Claire Lerner, LCSW, Lerner Child Development

Claire is a highly regarded child development and parenting expert with more than three decades of experience in education and direct practice.


Claire partners with parents to decode their children's behavior and solve their most vexing childrearing challenges.

Claire is the author of hundreds of parenting resources including the popular parenting book, Why Is My Child in Charge? and Big Reactors : Practical Strategies for Supporting Highly Sensitive Children coming in October 2025.

Thao Trinh

Dr. Thảo-Châu Trịnh, MSc, PsyD , Clinical Pyschologist

Dr. Thảo-Châu Trịnh, MSc, PsyD (she/they) is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in early childhood mental health and the impact of intergenerational trauma on attachment and development.



Dr. Trịnh received their doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Wright Institute and has worked extensively in schools, community mental health, the foster care system, and hospital settings to support children and their caregivers through play therapy and neuropsychological assessment.

Dr. Trịnh is a daughter of refugees, Bay Area native, proud parent to a gender diverse child, and enjoys bike riding, rock polishing, and cooking traditional Vietnamese cuisine with their family.
